Thanks I think if more people were aware of this board then we would be busy ever night. I just don't have everyones email to invite them. CMT board keeps deleting my posts and I visit there less and less. I added this boards URL to my Youtube page so others can find it.

Hi!Lovetodreamabout from the CMT boards. Lena from Miami. Fan of George since I heard YOu Look So Good In Love on a trip to North Carolina in the early 80's. Fell in love with country music and kept it kinda quiet. Alternated between country, top 40, classical for years. Boys started with their rap and rock stuff so a few years I decided the one consequence for obnoxious car behavior was that I pick the radio station and I picked country. Needless to say I got to listen to country a lot. As the boys got older and I realized the mommy martyr stuff was getting old I started going to concerts when I traveled for business. I was so excited for my first George concert 4 years ago and I got so obsessively over the top. I've only seen him 3 times.
I tell the boys never to sign up for chat rooms, never to give out personal information, never do what mom does. I've made some grait friends through George.
Hubby calls it my private life. Yep, country concerts, line dancing (no meeting men required) Strait chat rooms, country radio and Strait photos on my screen saver is my mid life crises.
Glad you gave me another op to escape into my Strait world.

Hi Lena: Grait to see you here!
So, I guess I never actually told my story of why I'm a George Strait Junkie... well, George Strait saved my life, literally. When I say he's had me from "Unwound" I really do mean it. Back in 1981 when his first album came out, I was going through a rough break-up with my then fiancee (sp?). We dated all through high school - when I graduated he proposed, a short time after, I found out he had been and still was cheating on me. I was devistated. He was the love of my life, my first "everything" and I couldn't believe he would do that. I couldn't live without him.
I knew of only one thing I wanted to do and decided when and how I would do it. (no need to go into detail here). Well, my best friend (whom I told, so at least one person would know) talked me into going with her to buy this new album from this new country artist first. I agreed because she made me feel guilty. Well, she bought me "Strait Country". I took it home, listened to the whole album, starred at that beautiful face for hours, fell in love, and decided, if there is someone out there who can sing and make me feel like this...I'm sticking around to find out more about him.
From there it was history, I sold the ring (for lots of $$), and vowed to purchase each and every album that man put out. I haven't missed one yet. Thank God for George Strait - because of him, I love country music, I met and married the sweetest man and realized that the dumb @ss actually did me a favor. I could have ended up married to him and been cheated on while married.
So, there ya' have it -- long, boring.... but I thank God every night for George Strait! He is my hero and he doesn't even know it.

msbamagirl...........what part of Alabama are you from? We lived in Prattville for over a year, several years ago. Loved it there. Would move back if not for kids and grandkids here. It's such a beautiful town.

She says she's a little worried to get out her University of TN stuff and wear it around there though. HA HA! Julie

Hey there Strait junkies! Just found out about this board. I'm not slow just too darn busy lately...anyway what a grait message board. I recognize a lot of names... from email and CMT board and look forwarding to meeting everyone else. My name is Karen and I live in MD and have been a GS fan ever since my hubby turned me onto him so I thank him for my obsession lol. Pure County is my first recollection of thinking omg he's one hot cowboy! Before that hubby was the only cowboy in my life.

Thanks for the friendly welcome! I've been thinking of nothing but George all day. It all started with flight reservations to San Antonio in March and it's been George, George, George ever since...brushed off all office work. I wonder if other artists' fans have it as bad as us!
