I'm from Johnson City, TN and I have been a George fan since I was about 7. On one of our family vacations when I was a kid, my Dad kept playing Greatest Hits Vol 2. I had no clue who George Strait was at the time and finally asked Dad who was singing because I really liked whoever it was. He told me it was George Strait and handed me the cover to the tape. I have been hooked ever since!
I think this is a great idea! I'm pretty active on Jimmy Fortune's message board and have found some really great friends because of the message board.

From the feedback I am getting it seems that everyone

I am a total George Junkie and have seen him every year for the past oh....25 years! I just love my cowboy!

I just got to thinking, on Jimmy Fortune's board, we also have a thread that we can post our birthdays. It's just an idea.
And I probably should go ahead and tell you who Jimmy is in case you don't know. He's the former tenor from the Statler Brothers. You know the little guy on the end. He's a really sweet guy and has been on his own every since they retired 5 years ago.

Your birthdays will show up in the Calendar at the top
and everyone will have access to post things on the calendar
I may have to turn that feature on and everyone needs
to allow that setting in their profie options.
Grait idea.
This board has so many options that it will take me some
time to get everyting worked out.
I can also open up other sections of the forums so that
is an option on the table as we grow.

Thank you dear Ranger for the kind invite. I see some of my favorite people are here, happy day  I'm Linda and I live in inland San Diego county. I'm proud to say that I'm 5 days exactly, older than George, have been married 6 months longer and I've been a fan since #7, which was a tape my father in law gave me. Little did the family know what they would be creating giving me that tape lol. A cute story. Our son is/was a singer in a band, was about to go on a US tour, life got in the way with a band member. He's 28 and too cute. Last Christmas, my 6'3" guy went to Build A Bear, with the tiny screaming little ones, and built me a George Bear. Gave it a cowboy hat, jeans, vest, boots, etc. He was living at home at that time so had to sneak, in the middle of the night, the voice recorder to the bear so that it sang, "Amarillo" off of his computer, and the certificate names the bear as George. Yep, the family knows!! I truly have lost track of how many concerts I've been to but I know I've seen every one in Las Vegas, other states, every time in California and that cowboy of ours just gets better and better. The LV concert was the first time I was able to meet friends and what friends they are!! Wish we could have met Ranger and our other friends but next concert! LOVE this board! Linda =) |

never shows all the posts and they'd better be thankful we're even on it!
Makes me mad for you. Guess we need to talk about their new shows or the
dumb movies they show. I've sent the youtube links to all of my friends, family
and neighbors, yours, Donna's and Kim's so no worry, they will be seen.

Hi Everyone! I'm Martha and usually join posting on CMT Board but this sounds good. I won't be joining in much since we're leaving for Florida for 5 weeks soon and I don't take a laptop with me. I've been a George fan since 1998 (slow learner!). I've seen him in concert 9 times. Won't get to one this year though, so I'm enjoying everyone's photos and videos. I'm a retired middle school teacher but fairly computer illiterate so I'll need lots of help, I'm sure.
