I have a few questions that I'm sure experts can answer.
- What year did George start getting noticed by the ACM and CMA. What year was his first performance on the shows.
- I see no evidence that George was ever nominated for top new artist on the CMAs. I wonder why?
- What year did George start playing the big places during his tours? Who did he open for in the beginning years?
Thanks.

Anyone here?
I also wonder, how did George survive the cutting of established singers around 1990 when radio decided to stop playing the established artists and focus on the brand new artists?
During that time, it didn't seem to matter how good a singer was, if they had a few years on them, radio faded out their airplay by the early 90s.

George was nominate for Best New Male Vocalist in 1981 by the ACM. His first CMA win was in 1984 for Male Vocalist of Year and Album of the Year.
George basically "reinvented" himself in the early 90's to stay relevant. Not only did he star in a motion picture in 1992 he switched record producers from Jimmy Bowen to Tony Brown which really energized his studio work. He also changed his live shows, becoming one of the first modern artists to perform "in the round", something he still does today.
