That is a great pic. I guess that button thing is his Christmas gift to you, Str8fan12. The rest of us wouldn't even have noticed. Oh, I noticed, and I liked what I noticed! Oh heck yeah.... I notice everything little thing about this man... and I know that that button is his way of saying... "Ya'll can look - but ya can't touch"! Dang it!! Why does he have to be so dang modest and shy... Just once, I wanna see a picture with a shirt unbuttoned to the belly button... *oops, sorry.... I was thinking it, but I didn't mean to type it.* -

I think one of the best things about George is where he draws the lines. I love looking, but I also love his integrity. It's one of his best assets.

Casims, I wouldn't want to see Strait on stage or in publicity pics dressing like McGraw or Chesney, and I'm sure he wouldn't do that. He has his own style that the fans love. If there was a pic of him on a boat or beach somewhere without a shirt, I wouldn't think anything of it. For me, it's what's appropriate for the situation.

For me personally, I think George Strait is one of the most attractive men in the world. I would love to see more of George, so to speak. However, I think that George is a great judge of how much he shows, and that his style is partly based on his morals and integrity, which are much more valuable. I love his integrity more than anything else. I adore George all the way around, but I would be disappointed if he showed more. I'm still gonna look at his wrangler patch and peek at whatever button's undone. Yes, I know, I'm a bad girl.

Bad girl? You're normal! There have been times when men I knew would hear some friends and I going all "locker room" around them about some celeb and comment that they didn't know women did that. I've always appreciated the friendships with men who will ask about women's attitudes and give me and my friends insight into the minds of men. But back to your point: I agree that the public image any entertainer chooses says something about the kind of person they are. When I listen to some old Michael Bolton songs I wonder what kind of guy thinks of this stuff and why doesn't the average guy pay attention. How does he come up with these beautiful lyrics and what's he like in person? (On the other hand, I'd have hated if Nicolette Sheridan - his girlfriend of many years - sat down with People magazine and told us all about it after they broke up. Like Strait, Bolton is one of the singers who has left sex, drugs and other bad behavior to others and I respect the privacy they've earned by not fueling tabloid twitter.) Bolton's videos show more than anything Strait's done, but he never takes it too far. In other words, the clothes are just part of the overall image, the songs and public behavior play a big part, but it all sends a message. My point is that I don't think a pic of George on a beach or on Kenny's boat is going to change that message, that image. That's what I meant when I said "appropriate". In the final analysis, he's responsible for the image he projects and it seems from what little I've read, his fans respect that. That's why this stuff about the button cracks me up. You guys are really funny about it, glitter and hearts and all, but never seem to cross the line. That's why I like reading and posting with you guys. (that's northern for y'all ;-) )

Str8fan12, I'm with you, girl. I know exactly what you mean. My favorite part of your post:
As you said Elle, if he was on a beach or a boat, shirtless and shorts.... Oh baby... hold me back.LOL!
I brought up Michael Bolton because of the kind of songs he sings, like George's without the 'country', and the way he's conducted himself during his career. Some fans like the bad boys and some of us love and appreciate the kind of image George projects through his songs, his dress, his behavior and his lack of a rap sheet. :-)

There is one scene in "Pure Country" where he changes his shirt, but he isn't showing off, even though you see a little more of him than usual. Dusty (George's character) is arguing with his manager about the smoke and the lights and such. When he changes his shirt, it's like Dusty is getting out of an image that he isn't comfortable with into something that he is comfortable with. It's like a metaphor. You can even say the struggle between Dusty and his manager is a metaphor for the struggle to maintain country music's purity (thus the title "Pure Country", if I may jest.)

I remember George once saying Norma is the only girl he ever kissed on the lips. I repect him for that. That makes Norma extra special and makes her feel extra special.

Here's 3 of my favorites that I took at his show in Knoxville last year: I love this picture with Gene. Gene is one of my favorite members of Ace in the Hole. I just hope I can play the violin like that someday. Right now I'm still learning. My computer won't let me log in right now, so I'm glad that I can post anyway.
