This is what is happening in the great state of Texas.
The federal government under the Obama administration is
becoming more and more involved with telling states how to
operate and when they trickle down the money BACK to the
states they are telling them certain guidelines that they must
follow in order to accept the funds.
The money is OUR tax money that they have taken and they
are then deciding how we should use it.
Texas was and always will be a Republic that stands alone.
It is part of the United States but the people are getting
extremely tired of the wasteful spending of OUR hard earned
taxes by the federal government on bail outs and hand outs.
The 10th Amendment to the U.S. constitution is there and was
written because the founding fathers knew what it was like to
have an overbearing leader deciding how everyone should
be ruled.
The 10th Amendment is about States rights to decide how
to govern themselves. An example of states rights would
be gun control. In New York state, handguns are hard to
own and you are not allowed to carry them in your vehicle
or on ones person without a permit.
In the South, guns are a part
of life and someone owning a handgun and rifle is a normal
thing and the people in these areas are used to it.
Some people decide to live in the south because they value
that freedom and grew up with certain values that are found
in southern society.
In New York, If someone breaks into your home you are obligated
to go to the farthest part of the house and if you defend yourself
you could be in trouble for using a firearm.
In the south, your home is considered your castle and you have
EVERY right to defend yourself by any means necessary. This
is called the "castle doctrine" and Texas of all states is not the
place to break into someones home.
Each state is unique in it's laws and ways of doing business
and this is the way it was originally designed. With so many
states and such a large population it is difficult for one federal
government to try and dictate how the people of those states
will live.
The federal government is stepping over the boundaries that it
was originally set up for and everyone is pushing back.
Several states have drawn a line in the sand and created
amendment's to their own state constitution to remind
the federal government that they will NOT allow them to
violate states rights or the 10th amendment.
Texas has always been a state of freedom loving people and
if any state were to one day pull away from the United States
it would most likely be Texas.
Texas could pull away from the union and never look back
and it would be interesting to see the reaction by Washington
if it ever did happen.
It was a great speech and what we call a boot in the ass to
the federal government.
