George Opry Induction[READ]

So. Awhile back.. I emailed the Opry. They replied back. Here's the emails:

To whom it may concern,

My name is Gabrielle Drew,I am 13 years old and I live in
Norwalk,Connecticut. I am a big fan of country music and I have been to he Opry before and I watch "Opry Live" on GAC alot. So I see
inductions. I have a question..Why isn't George Strait in the Opry? He isone of the real country artists out there. True,he isn't Nashville
country. He's more honkytonk western swing,but that doesn't seperate him completely from your type of country music. It's not like he's rap or rock. He's country too. And can I say,that even though I do love the Opry. I am disappointed in you guys. You let Carrie Underwood in and she
hasn't even been around for 10 years..But you don't let George Strait in
and he is the king of country music. He has been singing and touching
lives of others since 1981(when his debut album came out). It just blows
me away that he's not a member of the Opry. With all due respect to
Miss.Underwood,She hasn't been around long enough to be inducted into
the Opry. Whereas.George Strait,He's been around awhile and he's not a member. Please reply. I think he deserves a place in the Opry.

MY REPLY: Oh, I see. Sorry for my dumb questions. I'm not familiar at all with the Opry induction process. in regard to the original question I asked,you said you got that question every day,just about. I am doing a survey and I was wondering,what is the youngest age you got this question from?

No, you're not the first to wonder about why George isn't a member of the Opry, but this might shed a little insight.

The Grand Ole Opry is in Nashville, TN. George wants to stay in Texas because that is where his roots are. His family has owned the same ranch in Texas for over 100 years. Early in his career, he was encouraged to move to Nashville, because that is where country music's home base is, but George didn't go because Texas was his home. That's just my guess.

When you see George sing TEXAS live on stage (in Texas)
and stand about 20 feet from him when he sings

" I wouldn't be standing right here right now.. If it wasn't for Texas"

and he points at the stage and looks out you kind of get a chill
down your spine and then the crowds energy hits you with a
second wave of energy that zaps you again.

That pretty much sums it up for me. I don't think he cares
much about Nashville and Nashville needs artists like George.

VIACOM (MTV and CMT) have trashed two forms of music
and thrown it into the alley with idiotic reality tv shows.

They control who is played and not the fans.


Texas has 24.3 million people so I think George is happy
with that audience.

Early in his career, there were times when he only made $7 a night when he played, and he still stayed in Texas. He's very loyal to his roots.

Yeah.Ya know. Thats why I think I like him so much. He has stayed true to his roots and didn't try to be someone he ain't.
