Ok people
This is the HOW TO as far as posting the following
AVATARS, SIGNATURES, PICTURES and BANNERS
You MUST know how to access your photos and files
on your own computer. I can't explain the entire process
of finding your photos to everyone because you all save
your photos in different areas on your PC.
When it comes to posting pictures on the internet you
must understand that every image that shows up on
your screen when you are online requires an internet
ADDRESS or URL.
You MUST get a HOST site to have your picture show
up ONLINE. If you have pictures on your computer then
you MUST UPLOAD them to a free Internet HOST.
There are several FREE online hosts.
Tiny Pic
Imageshack
You can upload any picture on your computer to these
host sites and they will give you a NEW URL or ADDRESS
of the picture. Imageshack will let you upload a photo
from a picture URL that is online. Tinypic will only let you
upload your own photos.
You simply COPY the new URL/ADDRESS and PASTE it into
the areas at message boards that you are trying to post
your picture.
To COPY a URL you simply hold down your LEFT mouse
button and swipe the arrow OVER the URL and it will
then be HIGHLIGHTED.
RIGHT click on your mouse and then click COPY.
You now have the URL/ADDRESS saved and can PASTE
it by moving the arrow over the place you wish to post
it and then RIGHT click and then click on PASTE.
Avatars.
To post an AVATAR at Proboards you need to COPY the
URL of your photo and then go to PROFILE. This is at
the top of the page or you can click on your user name
anywhere on the board.
Now go to MODIFY PROFILE
Go down the page and look for AVATAR URL
This is the area that you will PASTE your pictures
URL/ ADDRESS.
SIGNATURES are found on the same page and you simply
type in the signature that you wish to use.
POSTING PICTURES IN YOUR TOPICS AND REPLIES
When you post a picture in a regular reply you go to the top
area of the message window and there is a small picture in a
white frame. This is JUST TO THE RIGHT of the arrow and GLOBE
picture.
When you click on this, TWO brackets will show up. You paste
your photos URL BETWEEN the middle brackets ]HERE[.
Your photo will show up in your reply or message.
You can also just TYPE the code in your reply or message at
the beginning and end of the URL. This is explained below.
BANNERS.
They are pictures so again you need to have a ONLINE HOST.
Banners are a little more tricky. If you can post pictures in
your replies then you can post a banner in your signature.
You just need to COPY and PASTE the banner into the signature
line but you MUST include the brackets that allow it to show up.
The BRACKETS are the code that allow a Picture URL to be changed
so that it becomes visible ONLINE
Below you will see the code that will post a photo in
your message and in your signature as your banner.
YOU MUST REPLACE the X WITH a G
I have to type the code this way without a G so you can
see it.
Just type [imx] at the beginning and [/imx] at the end
of the URL/ADDRESS of the photo.
So it will look like this but with the X replaced with a G
[imx]httpwhateverthepicaddressis[/imx]
DON'T FORGET THE / in the last bracket.
Remember that this is the code to post photos in your reply
and in your signature as your banner.
DO NOT make banners that are too large. They should
be a BANNER and not a movie screen.
If you are comfortable using your computer and a photo editing
feature then you can add text to your banner photos.
Take your time and practice with this. It isn't as hard as it
sounds.
You DO NOT have to post a TEST post to see if your picture or
banner is showing up. Just hit PREVIEW and it will be there
if you typed the proper code.
