It's early morning in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The first concert of the 2012 George Strait tour cranked up last night with a sold out stadium. I don't have time to write out everything this morning but I will tell you that it was a great concert and we had an amazing time.
There were many songs added to the lineup so this was a great mix of old classics and newer songs. George really looked like he was having fun.
Just a great time all around. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I just dont get it and I guess I never will, Im glad George still does shows but year after year the setlist gets worse.
Drinking Man A Showman's Life Same Kind of Crazy Arkansas Dave Where Have I Been All My Life The Breath You Take Twang I'll Always Remember You Folsom Prison Blues
He picks those songs over songs he hasnt done in 15 years
Fool Hearted memory Marina del rey You look so good in love Nobody in his right mind Babys gotten good at goodbye I cross my heart Baby your baby It aint cool to be crazy about you Baby blue If I know me
Im just saying a living legend like George does 5 songs off his new album and 3 songs off the last couple of albums that were not even singles......does anyone agree with me???

No matter what George Strait sings in concert there will always be a group who are posessed with seeing the set list like it is some kind of holy grail. Those same people most likely never even went to a single George Strait concert in their life. It doesn't really matter to me what he sings and I think the majority of people that actually go to a concert enjoy seeing him and the band and could care less what songs he has on a list as long as they have a good time. Every year the same people complain about him singing all of his old favorites and only a few new songs. Maybe he is getting tired of hearing and singing them and decided to play some newer songs and feel a little younger. I for one am looking forward to the rest of the tour and seeing him soon in our city. Just sayin

Wow.. thats pretty harsh for a new poster.
I think people are just interested in hearing some old songs that haven't been played on the tour for a long time and enjoy them as much as Amarillo By Morning.
Either way, it's a message forum and people are here to talk about the music and have fun.
I had a great time at the concert and there were more slow songs added but the number of songs played were increased so it's a win win.
If you stop and think what bands are playing that many songs at a concert I think George will be at the top of the list.

You know I have to agree with "dacjs". This year's set list is arguably depressing - too many sad and slow songs. I'm going to the Atlanta concert this Friday - perhaps he'll add The Fireman again - I heard he didn't sing it in Lafayette.
