Info About New Single & Album
George Strait sets record with new single Tuesday, February 12, 2008 –
George Strait's new single - "I Saw God Today" - is the highest single debut of his career. The song debuted at number 19 on the R&R and Billboard radio charts this week.
"Wow, let me just say a huge thank you to country radio! I love you guys," Strait said. Royce Risser, Senior Vice President of National Promotion at Universal Music Group, said, "At this point, I don't know how you call any single from George a 'career record,' but I have heard more unsolicited praise for this song than any since I have been at the label. I have said this before, but we will never witness another artist like this in our lifetime...simply amazing."
On Monday, Feb. 4 at 12:01 a.m., the single was made available to radio stations across the country for download. Fourteen hours later, it was the most added song at country radio. In 7 days time, the single had 131 adds. The upcoming CD, "Troubadour," will be out April 1.
The set includes a duet with Patty Loveless and long time songwriting partner, Dean Dillon. Distinguished songwriter Leslie Satcher also lends her songwriting expertise to a "good number" of the 12 tracks, according to a press release

Grait news. I wish he would come out with a new LIVE DVD His live version of Folsom Prison Blues needs to get on the TV and radio. They do that song so well and the band looks like they are really having fun playing it. Many of his live versions sound better to me than the original. The Fireman is one of them and Take Me Back To Tulsa is right up there. Luv those songs.

A New Favorite Song on the George Strait Tour Posted: February 18th, 2008 at 3:00 pm | By: Little Big Town My hubby and I were driving in Nashville last week when we heard George Strait's new single for the first time. It's called "I Saw God Today." We only heard the last verse, and when it was over, we were both blown away and said we couldn't wait to hear the whole thing. I have been excited for days now waiting to watch him sing it live.
We wanted to make sure we didn't miss it, so we found out from his management when he was going to sing the song in his set tonight. When it came time, we stood along with the rest of the crowd and watched him perform it. Wow! He, of course, brought the house down. He expresses the most genuine emotion as he sings. There's something very special about that song. It's my new favorite! I've been singing it in my head for the last two hours. I LOVE GEORGE STRAIT!!!!! I can't believe we're here!! -- Kimberly Roads

Good Scoop KIM I am starting to regret not scooping up that jacket last fall when it was online at Sheplers. It looks great for horseback riding.
