So here it goes. It's something I was thinking about while driving and listening to some old songs from his Strait Out Of The Box Cds. The idea is to make a CD of your own that is a collection of George Strait songs that you would like all in one place. Heres the project and the rules. 1. Pick 20 George Strait songs that you like. They can be from any album (cd) but you can only pick 20. 2. No editing your songs once you decide what you want on the CD. It's a one shot deal and thats part of the fun. We can make it even more fun if you make your own CD cover art and come up with a NEW name for your 20 song CD. I'm not big on the artwork so I will just stick to my song list. Have at it and lets see what you can come up with. One CD per board member.

Sounds really fun! Aha. This will be hard. All of his songs are amazing. So I will have to narrow them down. One by one.. Which will take some time.. x]

I named my CD
Sundown in a Rodeo Town
I am always on the road and driving across parts of Texas that are so far out in the middle of the country that the radio stations are far and few between. I have to put in a CD with at least 20 songs on it to hold me over till I can get back to an area with a signal. I always end up in a small town at sundown and the CD stays in the player until I leave. So that's where the name comes from.
1. Stars On The Water (LIVE version from the DVD)
2. Amarillo by Morning
3. Blue Clear Sky
4. Heartland
5. Fool Hearted Memory
6. Give It Away
7. Write This Down
8. I can Still Make Cheyenne
9. I don't want to talk about it anymore
10. It Just Comes Natural
11. Run
12. She'll Leave You With a Smile
13. Take me back to Tulsa
14. Texas
15. The Fireman (live)
16. Seashores of old Mexico
17. High Tone Woman
18. Folsom Prison Blues (LIVE version including the intro played in concert )
19. Living & Living Well
20. Where the Sidewalk Ends

Ok, here's what I came up with... but I know I'm leaving some of my all time favorites out. It's just that there are so many and 20 songs doesn't even scratch the surface of what I love to listen to.
The title of my CD is:
STRAIT TO MY HEART
(in no particular order)
Stars On The Water (live version) Don't Tell Me You're Not In Love Run Folsom Prison Blues There Stands The Glass Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind I Can Still Make Cheyenne If I Know Me Meanwhile Is It Already Time Chill Of An Early Fall Troubadour Ready For The End Of The World A Better Rain Marina Del Rey Amarillo By Morning Unwound Friday Night Fever Peace Of Mind The Nerve

I have been working on this for a while and I am of the opinion, that we should agree to a "Double CD" with at least 30 (preferably 40 songs). This, however is my 20 songs for today, but check again tomorrow, it will have changed AGAIN! Strait's Greats (or more correctly "Some of Strait's Greats") 1. Love Without End, Amen 2. Troubadour 3. The Best day 4. Wrapped 5. Write this Down 6. Make Her Fall in Love with Me Song 7. Blue Clear Sky 9. Give It Away 10. Does Fort Worth ever cross your mind 11. Unwound 12. Take Me Back to Tulsa 13. The Cowboy rides away 14. Chill of an early fall 15. Lead on 16. Amarillo by Morning 17. Baby your baby 18. Baby's Gotten Good at Goodbye 19. Run 20. One night at a time I can totally feel the pressure and if I don't post this now - I will change it again. This was not as much fun as it should have been and I am not doing a cover for the CD. If I have to select a pic for the cover... I cannot do it (short version). Maybe the cover should just be a horse and a rope, or the cowboy roping, or just a rope, or... :-/See, I cannot do it.

Great lists so far.
It was really hard for me also and I had a list of 36 then I had to start chopping songs of the list.
My decision ended up with more upbeat songs that I enjoy singing along to. One of the reasons I enjoy his music is that his voice range is about the same as mine and it makes it easier to crank it up in the car and just forget about the troubles.

It was easy to make the list of songs but the song list I had was about 30 songs long. The hardest part was deleting songs from the list.
Just a CD with 20 songs. Songs that you want to drive around in your car, work out at the gym etc.
It's is interesting seeing peoples collection.
