Hello everybody! My name is Janice & I have lived in Illinois all my life. Was raised on a little farm about 35miles from the Mississipi River in the middle of the state. I've always loved any kind of music until heavy metal and rap hit the airwaves! I always listened to country radio, but in Feb 2003, George Strait was coming to sing in my area. (I now live in the Quad Cities) I got the last of 3 tickets and sat 4 rows from the top of the arena, and was mesmerized the entire concert. That night was when I became a FAN!! I had never purchased any cd's for myself until after that concert. I now have all of them and am so excited about Troubadour! I listened to it on a clip, and was blown away by the phrasing, key changes and words...and as George always does, the effortless delivery. He is just so smooth and seems to enjoy performing so much. I still work full time, so have to juggle schedules so I can get to a concert. I am saving so I can go to a roping within the next 2 years.
Thanks for the invitation to this board! I'm not a 'big poster', and don't always have the time to sit here long, but I do enjoy reading, viewing pictures and feeling the camaraderie centered around George.

Yepper, It's ME:::::: ) Gayle. All those eyes to the left are looking for George!!! and above that one BIG SMILE!!! When I figure out the photo thingey, I'll post MY pic with George!! Oh, GOSH.....I am still teary every so often thinking that I met him just a week ago!!! Where has it gone. Even at my old age, I'm a wishin' it had been merely the "first date". The only things I have to keep me warm anymore are the many afghans I crochet and knit and my feathers (all my down bedding and pillows!) . Durn.
How exciting to see all my email BUDS on here: Kim, Alicia, Lena, Becki, Deb, Kim, Donna, Donna, Nancy, Janice - those I've noticed so far.

Hi Strait fans. My name is Bonnie and I'm from Iowa. I have been a George Strait fan since I heard the song Unwound. I will have to learn how to navigate my way around this board. Everyone has pictures by there names,where do i pick up one? You have many topics of coversation here on this board. It's a nice board. |

Hi fellow STRAIT junkies! I'm str8lvr (same as on the CMT Board). I joined up as soon as Ranger sent me the invite, but have just been reading all of everyone's wonderful posts. I'm new to this kind of thing, but hope to learn and be as creative as the rest of you! I am from Lawton, OK (just 6 hours north of our favorite guy's home)! Always been a fan of country music; grew up listening to my dad's favs: Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Charlie Pride, etc and my mom's all time favorite the Statler Brothers. My younger sis gave me a George cassete back in 1984 and I've been hooked ever since! Absolutely love everything that man does!!!! I finally took the time to actually stop and say something. But now, I've got to pack...we are headed to SA tomorrow and George's roping (my 2nd time). Can't wait!!! Hope to hear from everyone and be a more active board member

I also lived in Illinois for about 25 years. Dixon,Sterling,Rockfalls area. Since I've lived in Minnesota,going back there makes me feel like I was from a great cowpath State!!
